Olyde Nester is one of few individuals who can hybrid different cultures disciplines. You can hear it on his new album, "Birth of Love". The 17 tracks of cross-pollinated genres soar throughout the album. As you listen, bits and pieces of World Beat, Soul, R&B and Reggae blossom into a beautiful new sound.
A truly international artist, Olyde Nester sings, performs and composes in seven different languages: French, English, German, Italian, Swahili, Kirundi and Lingala. It's an exotic mix that sets Nester apart from the pack. In fact, he is also a rare talent who wears the hats of songwriter, producer, and musician while creating this emotional tapestry of sound.
Singing since he was five years old, Nester was inspired by his uncle but also in memory of his grandfather a prominent Judge but also, a musician who had once entertained Royalties. After struggling through a tough childhood where he lost his parents and most of his family, Nester continued to keep a positive outlook on life. He brought this disposition to his music, recording over 150 songs based on this viewpoint. As he reached adulthood, Nester took to his studies. Not only did he study music, but he also studied Political Science & Law in France at the University of Strasbourg and in Canada at the University of Ottawa. For a number of years he has shuttled back and forth between his International and Entertainment Law Practice and Touring African and European venues.
In 2001 Olyde Nester has released "Hope, my hero", a 14 brand new tracks album, sold at the artist unprecedented number of copies worldwide. It surpassed "Espoir de demain" in sales and toped the charts. "Hope is my hero, my friend," says Olyde Nester, "Hope rescues me in my everyday life, and because there is always hope, life should always be cherished."
In 1997, Olyde Nester released his CD "Espoir de demain", a multi-lingual treasure. Dedicated to the child victims of war in Africa, he gave away $5 from each CD to orphan children's organizations. His charity did not stop there he added a percentage of his performance income to these. With thousands of copies sold across the globe, his album "Espoir de demain" (Hope of tomorrow) has surprisingly exceeded expectations by hitting the top of the charts in a number of different African countries with six separate songs.
